This article includes two different routines that a three month old could be following.
3 months baby sleep schedule.
Most 3 month olds need 11 12 hours at night and 3 4 hours of sleep during the day.
Your baby might still be fussy in the evenings but more than likely you will soon see that settles down and they are ready for an earlier bedtime.
He s awake for about an hour and a half and then takes a 45 minute nap.
Sleep your 3 month old s nervous system is maturing and his stomach can accommodate more milk or formula.
If your baby is only able to manage an hour before sleepy time kicks in don t panic.
He wakes each morning at 6 30 a m.
At least 10 mins after she wakes from nap.
Begin nap 1 do not start this before 7 30am feed 2.
This equates to about 4 to 5 naps during the day then the nighttime.
At some point between 3 and 6 months most babies start to sleep for longer stretches at night working up to about 10 hours at a stretch.
Is sleeping through the night.
By no means is it standard for all babies to sleep well at 3 months old.
Many babies in the 4 to 6 month stage still wake up more than once or twice at night for feedings.
Overall at 4 months your baby should be getting 4 hours of daytime sleep with 3 4 naps and 10 12 hours at night.
Between 6 00am 7 00 am.
That s a lotta sleep.
And wakes up at 4 a m.
3 month old babie s generally sleep around 15 to 17 hours a day including nighttime hours.
However it s also normal for 3 month olds to sleep a little more or less than that.
If your baby currently sleeps less than that but isn t fussy your 3 month old is fine.
Many 3 month olds are still eating 1 2 times a night and some naps are just 30 minutes.
Third month baby milestones.
By the third month your baby will be able to stay awake for between 1 hour and 1 5 hours before needing to have a sleep.
14 17 hours of total sleep is common and considered healthy at three months.
This tends to be an age where you start to see a little more predictability to your days and nights.
Those changes should allow your baby to sleep for a stretch.
Our 3 month old is in a great routine i prefer that word to schedule.
Every baby is different but a typical 3 month old needs between 14 and 17 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period including three to four naps totaling four to six hours.

For some babies they will still be waking quite a bit at this age.
